MAVERICKS WEARING GREEN ON ST. PATTY'S DAY
- The UT Arlington Mavericks will host Minnesota on Tuesday, March 17, for a St. Patrick's Day contest at QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, the Mavericks will be wearing green uniform jerseys. UTA and Minnesota will conclude their non-conference series on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Clay Gould Ballpark in Arlington.

HOME STAND CONTINUES THIS WEEK
- UT Arlington will continue its eight-game home stand hosting Minnesota on Tuesday and Wednesday and with a Southland Conference series this weekend against Northwestern State.

MAVERICKS WIN SERIES OVER ROADRUNNERS
- The UT Arlington baseball team won games one and three of its three-game conference series against defending Southland Conference regular season champion UTSA. The wins are the first for the Mavericks during conference play this season.

OTTEMAN'S STREAK CLIMBS TO 17 GAMES
- Matt Otteman continued his torrid streak at the plate going 8-for-17 last week while also continuing his career-high hit streak to 17 games. Otteman went 2-for-4 hitting his first home run of the season in the first game against the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday. He continued his streak going 1-for-4 with an RBI and 2-for-5 with an RBI and scored the game-winning run in the Mavs victory in the third game of the series. The all-time hit-streak record at UT Arlington belongs to former Maverick player and head coach Clay Gould. Gould had a 26 game hit streak in 1993.

ONE STREAK CONTINUES, ANOTHER ENDS...
- UT Arlington's two victories over UTSA this past weekend snapped a four series losing streak against the Roadrunners. The Mavericks won game one (5-3) and game three (3-2, 10 inn.) to secure their first series victory over UTSA since sweeping the Roadrunners in Arlington in 2004.

MITCHELL, PITCHING STAFF DELIVER
- The UT Arlington pitching staff posted a 1.61 ERA in the three game series against UTSA this past weekend. Jason Mitchell came out of the bullpen during both victories, earning the save in game one and the win in game three. He tallied a perfect 0.00 ERA with 4.0 innings pitched, allowing only three hits with two strikeouts. Andy Sauter won the first game of the series allowing three runs and scattering eight hits in eight innings of work with nine strikeouts - marking the most by any Maverick this season. Overall, the Mavericks allowed the Roadrunners to bat .214 while striking out 23 batters in 28 innings pitched.

INSIDE THE SERIES - vs. UTSA
- The series was forced to start on Saturday, after Friday night's game was postponed due to continuous rain. The Mavs and Roadrunners played game one on Friday at 4 p.m. and a doubleheader starting at noon on Sunday.

- The Mavericks tallied 25 base hits, led by catcher Chad Comer (4-for-10, .400), right fielder Matt Otteman (5-for-13, .385) and outfielder/designated hitter Andrew Kainer (4-for-13, .308).

- UT Arlington was 6-of-7 in stolen bases, as six different players tallied a stolen base.

- Catcher Chad Comer threw out 4-of-6 would-be base stealers. UTSA entered the series 22-of-25 (88%) on the season.

- The Mavericks are now 1-1 in extra-inning games, after posting a 3-2 win in the series finale on Sunday against UTSA in 10 innings. UT Arlington lost to then-No. 4 Texas earlier this season in Austin in 10 innings.

- Every Maverick starting pitcher (Andy Sauter, Nathan Long, Rett Varner) threw at least seven innings allowing three of fewer runs in their outing.

1,094 WINS AND COUNTING...
- UT Arlington is six wins shy of recording its 1,100th victory. In its 41st season of baseball, UTA currently has a 1,094-1,058-1 all-time record, averaging 27 wins per season since the program started in 1969.

LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD...
- When the Mavericks travel to Conway, Ark., for a three-game series against Central Arkansas (Apr. 17-19) they will play at 7 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Friday's original game time was set for 6 p.m., but was recently changed to a 7 p.m. first pitch.

OTTEMAN & CHOICE RANK AMONG THE ELITE
- UT Arlington clean-up hitter Matt Otteman ranks second in the Southland Conference with 33 base hits and just behind Otteman tied for seventh place is three-hole hitter Michael Choice (27 hits). The duo has recorded 35 percent of the Mavericks' hits, 30 percent of their runs scored, 37 percent of their extra-base hits and 41 percent of the team's RBI.

OTTEMAN HIGH IN THE SLC RANKINGS
- Matt Otteman currently ranks in the Southland Conference top 10 in seven statistical categories, including second in batting average (.471), second in hits (33), tied for second in doubles (8), tied for second in triples (3), fifth in slugging percentage (.714), tied for fifth in total bases (50) and tied for ninth in RBI (19).

THE STORY IS IN THE HITS COLUMN
- The Mavericks are 6-1 this season when out hitting their opponents, with their only loss coming against Illinois when the Mavericks posted seven hits and the Fighting Illini tallied five. UTA is 1-8 when its opponent records more base hits, with the only victory coming when the Mavericks defeated UT Pan American 4-0. The Mavs had six hits and UTPA had seven. In addition, the Mavs are 0-1 when they have the same amount of hits as their opponent (L, vs. Texas State)

TOUGH AT THE PLATE WITH 2 OUTS
- Through 17 games, UT Arlington has 86 RBI - with 44 RBI coming with two outs. The Mavericks continued hitting in the clutch with six two-out RBI against UTSA this past weekend. Matt Otteman led all Mavericks with two, collecting a two-out RBI in both games on Sunday. Three of the five RBI the Mavericks tallied in game one against UTSA came with two outs. Michael Choice and Matt Otteman both lead the team with 10 two-out RBI. With two outs, Otteman is batting .423 (11-for-26) and Choice is close behind with a .382 (13-for-34) mark. Overall, the Mavericks are batting .298 with runners in scoring position and hitting .303 with two outs.

DELIVERING IN A PINCH

Wright hit his first career home run with a solo shot to left in the ninth inning on the road against Louisiana-Monroe. Wright now has two extra-base hits and three RBI pinch hitting this season.

DOMINATING ON THE MOUND IN WINS
- The UT Arlington pitching staff has posted a 0.98 ERA (7 ER allowed/64 IP) in the Mavericks' seven wins this season. In their victories, the Mavericks staff has allowed only five extra-base hits - with no home runs - and has started six double plays.

THIS IS OUR HOUSE
- UT Arlington is 6-3 playing at home this season where they have posted a .315 batting average with a 2.74 ERA. Seven UTA pitchers have yet to allow an earned run at home while opponents are hitting just .219 against Maverick pitching. The Maverick hitters are out hitting their opponents 101-65 at home.
