ARLINGTON, Texas -- UT Arlington returns home Tuesday night to Clay Gould Ballpark to face Oklahoma Christian in the start of a two-game nonconference series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The Mavericks (15-12) are coming off a three-game Western Athletic Conference sweep at Louisiana Tech, outscoring the Bulldogs 21-2. UT Arlington has played seven consecutive road games, compiling a 5-2 record in that stretch.

Choice Powers Mavericks to Sweep over Eagles
Michael Choice went 4-for-6 with a home run and three RBI to lead UT Arlington to a 17-9 victory over Oklahoma Christian Wednesday.

"We got momentum on our side and survived the first two weekends of conference play on the road," said UT Arlington coach Darin Thomas, a graduate of Oklahoma Christian. "We're starting to play better and we're going to playing a good OCU team. They're coming in with 18 wins and we can't take them lightly.

"Coach Lonny Cobble does a good job with them. They're very well coached. They've brought in some good players from D1 schools. It's going to be a tough two-game series, no matter what."

Oklahoma Christian is 18-15 overall. The Mavericks and Eagles are scheduled to play the second game Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Quik Trip Park in Grand Prairie, which is also the site of the WAC Tournament in May.

"If we can get over there and play it will be great experience for us," Thomas said, referring to the rain in the forecast this week. "Since the conference tournament is going to be played there, it's an advantage for us to see how the park plays. Our guys are looking forward to it."

The Mavericks are throwing Daniel Milliman on Tuesday. The junior transfer is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA and is making his first start of the season. A starting pitcher hasn't be designated for Wednesday.

UTA is 9-5 at home this season. The game at QuikTrip Park will be the second in a professional park this season after dropping a 5-4 decision to TCU at Rangers Ballpark on March 19.

The Mavericks play their next five games at home, including the game at QuikTrip and a weekend WAC series against CSU Bakersfield.
