ARLINGTON, Texas - Baseball America announced its Midseason College All-America team and UT Arlington's Michael Choice was one of three outfielders in the country named a first team selection.
The publication announced its midseason team with only 15 players in the country receiving recognition. Ten positions players and five pitchers made up the prestigious Baseball America Midseason All-America team.
Choice, who is considered by many as a projected first-round Major League Baseball draft pick, is currently batting .393 (42-for-107) with 11 home runs, 31 RBI and six stolen bases. He leads the Southland Conference and ranks among the top nationally with 36 walks, a .541 on-base percentage and a .766 slugging percentage.
Joining Choice on the Baseball America Midseason All-America team are catcher Micah Gibbs (LSU), first baseman Hunter Morris (Auburn), second baseman Zack MacPhee (Arizona State), third baseman Anthony Rendon (Rice), shortstop Derek Dietrich (Georgia Tech), outfielders Gary Brown (Cal State Fullerton) and Austin Wates (Virginia Tech), designated hitter A.J. Kirby-Jones (Tennessee Tech), utility player Kolbrin Vitek (Ball State), pitchers Danny Hultzen (Virginia), Derek McGuire (Georgia Tech), Drew Pomeranz (Mississippi), Chris Sale (Florida Gulf Coast) and John Stilson (Texas A&M).
