BSB: Mavs in the Major Leagues - Week Two
April 15, 2013
ARLINGTON, Texas – A first-inning three-run home run from San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence highlighted Mavericks alumni in the Major Leagues last week.
Pence sent a shot over the left-center field wall and into the seats of AT&T Park in San Francisco on Monday night. The hit would prove crucial in the Giants’ 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies, ending the Rockies five-game winning streak.
Ryan Roberts | INF | Tampa Bay Rays
Ryan Roberts was 1-6 in a series against the Texas Rangers and 2-10 in his last week of action. The third basemen started in two of the three games at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, and just one of his teams games at Boston.
Roberts is hitting .263 this season with five hits.
Mark Lowe | RHP | Los Angeles Angels
Lowe threw 1.1 innings last week in two games of relief work. Lowe gave up three earned runs against Oakland in a 11-5 loss, but came back strong in his next appearance in giving up just one hit in a full inning of work.
Lowe has a 7.94 ERA in five appearances.
Dillon Gee | RHP | New York Mets
Dillon Gee pitched 3.0 innings in his start last week against the Philadelphia Phillies. Gee gave up 10 hits, seven earned runs and three home runs. Gee has yet to pick up a win in 2013.
John Lackey | RHP | Boston Red Sox
Lackey’s poor run of luck in the last two years has continued as he has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with tightness in his right bicep. Lackey has started just one game this year in a 5-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, but he is expected to return in the next two weeks.
