Tuesday Probable Pitchers:
UTA - John Beck (1-3, 5.18 ERA) vs. TCU - Stefan Crichton (2-3, 9.70 ERA)
ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington plays host to Metroplex rival TCU for the second time this season Tuesday, but for the first time at Clay Gould Ballpark. First pitch between the Mavericks and Big 12 Horned Frogs is 6:30 p.m.
UT Arlington (20-15) is coming off a weekend series sweep of San Jose State in Western Athletic Conference play. The Mavericks are tied with CSU Bakersfield atop the WAC standings at 9-3.
"I'm proud of the way we played this weekend without two of our regulars in the lineup," UT Arlington coach Darin Thomas said, referring Derek Miller and Jake Pinchback. "We found a way to get a series sweep. Hopefully we can continue some of that momentum against TCU."
John Beck (1-3, 5.18 ERA) is scheduled to start for UTA, while Stefan Crichton (2-3, 9.70 ERA) takes the hill for TCU.
The Horned Frogs got the best of the Mavericks, 5-4, at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on March 19. The teams are set to play once more this season, with a May 14 date at Lupton Stadium on the TCU campus.
The Horned Frogs (16-20) are 9-2 against UT Arlington during Thomas' tenure. The Mavericks have won the last two meetings at Clay Gould Ballpark and five of the last 10.
"They're coming off a good weekend where they won two of three against Oklahoma State," Thomas said. They got some momentum going and we've got some momentum. It's always an interesting night when we play those guys."
