ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington freshman right-hander Dillon Gee was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 18, the league announced Monday. This is the second honor for Gee this season as he won the award back on March 28. The POTW honor is the sixth for the UTA pitching staff this season in the 11 selections.
Gee (Cleburne, Texas) was honored after tossing a complete-game four-hit shutout in a 2-0 victory against No. 12 Baylor on April 12. He allowed only six base runners all game and did not allow a Bear to advance passed second base. Gee threw 111 pitches in his first complete-game of his career.
On the season, Gee is 4-3 with a 5.29 ERA in a team-high 17 appearances. He is tied for second on the team in victories and fourth with 49.1 innings pitched.
The Mavs return to the diamond on April 19 against Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
