BSB: First-place Mavs play host to Baylor

ARLINGTON, Texas - After a weekend that saw UT Arlington climb back into first place in the Western Athletic Conference, the Mavericks welcome Baylor to Clay Gould Ballpark in a nonconference clash Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
UT Arlington won two of three games at New Mexico State, improving its record to 24-20 overall and 12-6 in the WAC. Baylor is 24-20 overall and 11-6 in the Big 12. The Mavericks and Bears met earlier this season, with Baylor winning 14-4 in Waco on April 9.
The Mavericks are 5-5 against Baylor in the last 10 meetings in Arlington. UTA won the only meeting at home against Baylor last season, 5-4. UT Arlington coach Darin Thomas is 2-10 in his career against BU. UTA is 14-8 at home this season, while Baylor is 4-9 on the road.
Three Mavericks are coming off four-hit games are going Tuesday. Travis Sibley and Darien McLemore set career highs with four hits in Sunday's 13-11 win at New Mexico State. Ryan Walker notched his sixth career four-hit game.
Walker, a junior shortstop, also reached several career milestones during the NMSU series. He moved into the UTA all-time top 10 with 129 runs and is eighth all-time in hits with 219 (Preston Beck has 220). Walker moves into the top-10 in at-bats with three against Baylor.
John Beck is on the hill against Baylor. The junior right-hander pitched 3.2 innings in his last start against TCU, an 11-4 loss. He has since made two relief appearances against Seattle U and UALR. Beck pitched 4.2 IP with two earned runs and a strikeout against the Redhawks, and went 1.2 innings with an earned run against UALR.
