ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington right fielder Preston Beck (Dallas, Texas) was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced Wednesday.

Beck becomes the third player in UT Arlington history to earn Freshman All-American, joining Michael Choice (2008) and Darrell Preston (2001).

Beck was one of three Southland Conference freshmen who received recognition as UTSA third baseman Ryan Dalton and Southeastern Louisiana pitcher Jordan Hymel were also honored.

Beck had a standout freshman season leading all Southland freshmen in batting (.352), base hits (82) and at-bats (233).

He led the team in base hits and with 27 multi-hit games. He also collected 37 runs, 10 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 44 RBI. In addition, Beck led the team with four outfield assists.

Beck finished the season with a 20-game hit streak, which is a UT Arlington freshman record. During the streak Beck batted .420 (37-for-88) with 13 runs, eight doubles, one home run and 26 RBI. He had 13 multi-hit games during the streak with two three-hit games and one four-hit performance.

Beck, who started 56 games in 2010, was an honorable mention All-Southland Conference selection.
