PING! All-American Baseball Teams

ARLINGTON, Texas - Just days after being selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft, UT Arlington center fielder Michael Choice (Arlington, Texas) was named a second team PING! All-American, the website announced last week.

Choice, the only Southland Conference player selected to the PING! post-season teams, earns his first All-American selection following his junior season while the honor marks his sixth All-American award this season (four preseason, one mid-season).

Choice won the conference batting title with a .383 batting average and guided the Mavericks with a team-leading 16 home runs and 59 RBI. He broke a school and Southland Conference record with 76 walks and his .568 on-base percentage broke a school record and led the conference while ranking second in the nation.

He scored 67 runs and hit 11 doubles with two triples with a .704 slugging percentage (second in the SLC) with 138 total bases.

In 10 games against nationally-ranked opponents, Choice batted .433 (13-for-40) with at least one base hit in each game. He tallied seven runs, four doubles, three home runs, eight RBI, 22 walks and a .622 on-base percentage.

Choice batted .392 (242-for-618) in 166 career games with 170 runs, 33 doubles, eight triples, 34 home runs and 162 RBI.
