USA BASEBALL NATIONAL TEAM TRIALS: MICHAEL CHOICE UPDATE

ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington center fielder Michael Choice became the first player in school history to be invited to the USA Baseball National Team Trials, which started June 15 and continue until June 24 at the National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. Choice and the other 40 top collegiate players in the nation have competed in five scrimmages since competition began on June 17. The trials will end with USA Baseball announcing the team's 22-man roster on June 24.
The trials have been dominated by pitching so far as the hitters have a combined .168 (43-for-256) batting average in five scrimmages.
Choice has played center field during four scrimmages and has played left field once. He is 1-for-15 in five scrimmages. In his third at bat on June 21, Choice lined a double into the right-center field gap for his first hit of the trials.
Three Blue vs. Red scrimmages remain, with scrimmages set for Monday (3 p.m.), Tuesday (8 p.m.) and Wednesday (noon).
