ARLINGTON, Texas -- For the sixth consecutive year, UTA will face off with a marquee nonconference opponent at Globe Life Park, home of the Texas Rangers, with the 2018 matchup pitting Baylor vs. the Mavericks on March 6.
UTA has played at least one nonconference game at Globe Life Park in each season since 2013. The Mavs posted a 5-1 win over No. 4 Texas Tech in 2017 at Globe Life Ballpark, welcoming a crowd of 4,259. UTA has played TCU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech and now Baylor at Globe Life Park since 2013.
"It is always a great opportunity for our student-athletes to compete at Globe Life Park," UTA coach Darin Thomas said. "For years, our relationship with the Rangers and the Arlington community has been wonderful and we are fortunate to have the chance to play at Globe Life. We have had some great crowds and have put a tremendous product on the field since 2013 and are eager to welcome Baylor in 2018."
The Mavs used a heroic relief outing to post the 5-1 win over Texas Tech in 2017, as Daniel James made his season debut after missing the first month due to injury. James fired five-shutout, one-hit innings to lift the Mavs to the win and earn Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week honors.
