ARLINGTON, Texas - Twelve former UT Arlington baseball players are currently involved with a Major League Baseball organization, seven in the big leagues and five in the minor leagues. The most recent Mavs who are playing minor league baseball are Adam Moore (Seattle Mariners), Dillon Gee (New York Mets), Matt Sartor (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Jeremiah Haar (Florida Marlins). In addition, former Maverick All-American Ryan Roberts is currently with the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City. Roberts recently was called up to the big leagues and made one appearance for the Rangers as a pinch hitter on July 29.

Moore played just one season for the Mavericks in 2006, helping lead UT Arlington to an NCAA Regional appearance and Southland Tournament championship. Moore, a sixth-round selection by the Mariners, is now a standout at the Double-A level with the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx in the Southern League.

Moore, a 6-foot-3, 220 pound catcher, was ranked No. 15 among all Mariner prospects by Baseball America before the start of the season. In his first Double-A campaign, Moore is batting .312 with 29 doubles, 11 home runs and 60 RBIs. During the month of July, Moore batted .408 in 21 games, with 31 hits, eight doubles, four home runs and 14 RBIs. He currently ranks in five offensive top 10 categories in the Southern League.

Now in his second full minor league season, Moore was tabbed a Mid-Season Southern League All-Star. In 2007, Moore was named to the Mid-Season and Post-Season California League All-Star teams. In three seasons of minor league baseball, Moore has hit 40 home runs, including 22 last season, which was the second most in the Mariners organization.

In 2006, Moore led the Mavs in 12 statistical categories, including a .350 batting average, 54 runs scored, 89 base hits, 22 doubles, 10 home runs and 50 RBIs. His 22 doubles is a single-season school record, and his 89 hits rank second all-time. Moore's UT Arlington career included being selected Southland Conference Newcomers of the Year, First Team All-SLC and SLC All-Tournament team.

Gee, a 6-foot-1 right-handed pitcher, finished his three-year UT Arlington career as one of the most prolific pitchers tossing 298.1 innings, second most in school history. A 21st round selection after his junior season in 2007 by the N.Y. Mets, Gee has experienced an impressive summer with the Single-A St. Lucie Mets.

After being named to the Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star team, Gee has become one of the top pitchers in the league recording an 8-6 record in 21 starts while logging 127.1 innings pitched. He has posted the fourth best ERA in the league (3.25) and has 94 strikeouts while issuing only 19 walks. Overall, Gee ranks in six FSL top 10 pitching categories.

During his last 10 starts, Gee is 5-1 with a 2.31 ERA, 66.1 innings pitched and has 46 strikeouts with just six walks.

Gee was a mainstay in the Mavs starting rotation for three seasons with 42 starts on the mound. He collected 198 strikeouts ranking fifth in Mavericks history, and his 58 appearances tie him for eighth on the all-time list.

Sartor, a 6-foot-6, 250 pound righty, has made 35 appearances for the third-place Inland Empire 66ers this season in the California League. Sartor is 4-4 with a 3.25 ERA, and has been one of the top relievers for his club with 85 strikeouts and just 20 walks.

In his last four appearances, Sartor has thrown 9.2 innings without allowing an earned run with eight strikeouts and one walk. His two-year career with the Mavs included making 25 appearances out of the bullpen, where he allowed 14 walks and struck out 27 batters during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Haar signed a free-agent contract with the Florida Marlins in 2005, after receiving a redshirt and playing one season for the Mavs. This summer Haar is playing for the Greensboro Grasshoppers, the Single-A affiliate for the Marlins. In eight appearances (four starts), Haar is 0-2 with a 5.60 ERA in 27.1 innings pitched.

In his one season as a Maverick in 2005, Haar made 14 appearances (five starts), where he pitched 29 innings and recorded 14 strikeouts.

ROBERTS REPORT:
Roberts went back to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Aug. 1, after spending three days on the Rangers active roster. Since returning to the Redhawks, Roberts has batted .300 (6-for-20) in five games. On Aug. 4, Roberts went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs against the Tucson Sidewinders. Roberts has batted .285 with 21 doubles, six triples, eight home runs and 53 RBIs in 107 minor league games this summer.
