BSB: Mavs Announce Signing Class

ARLINGTON, Texas -- UTA baseball has signed nine future student-athletes to a national letter of intent, it was announced by Coach Darin Thomas

"This is a great group of student-athletes that we are excited to add to the UTA baseball family," Thomas said. "The class has a nice mix of high school and junior college talents and each of the junior college players have had great freshmen seasons. We believe each of these young men can have a positive impact on our program."

Kody Bullard // LHP // 6-3, 210 // Arlington, Texas (Martin HS/Western Texas CC)
Pre-UTA: Played last two seasons at Western Texas CC ... School-record holder at Arlington Martin for conference ERA ... A two-time all-conference and all-region honoree ... All-district selection at Arlington Martin High School ... Helped lead team to the state finals. Personal: Son of Tracy and Tracie Bullard ... Father is a former two-sport, baseball and football, athlete at UTA, while also winning a national title at Ranger Junior College ... Has a younger sister, Carlie (13).

"Kody is a local guy that we have known about since his time in high school at Martin. He had an outstanding freshman season at Western Texas and I think, because of his work ethic, his best days are ahead of him. His velocity has really spiked since high school and we expect Kody to come in and compete for important innings."

"Wyatt will be a two-way guy for us. He had a great freshman year at Hutchinson Community College last year as a hitter and pitcher. He brings pop from the left side and is an outstanding right-handed pitcher as well. Wyatt has the ability to impact our program right away. We are excited to get someone who can do both at a high level to be in our program."

Cesar Gomez // RHP, IF, OF // 6-3, 195 // Fort Worth, Texas (Fossil Ridge HS/North Central CC)

"Cesar is a special player. He is another two-way guy that can do both at a very high level. We have known about him since his days at Fossil Ridge High School and he has made a jump every year. He had a great year at North Central last spring and we expect him to do nothing but get better. We are excited about adding a quality arm as well as a left-handed bat to our team."

"Nick is a left-handed hitting outfielder that can really run. He plays at a great high school in Grapevine and has been apart of some really good teams. He will bring athleticism to our outfield and a solid bat and speed on the bases. We are extremely excited that he is coming to UTA."

"Tyler is a left-handed hitting infielder that really knows how to play the game. He has an advanced knowledge of the game that really shows in how he plays. He will bring an above-average bat to the college level. He comes from a very strong baseball family that gives him a jump on how to play the game the right way. We are excited to get one of Arizona's best high school players to come to UTA."

Pre-UTA: Transferred from Fort Scott CC and Abilene Christian ... Started 43 games and played in 48 at ACU as a freshman, hitting .236 with seven doubles, one triple, two homers and 15 RBI, leading the team with 25 walks and sporting a .365 on-base percentage ... "Cole played in the Kansas Junior College All-Star Game this fall and really caught our eye. He is an athletic, switch-hitting catcher that can also play the infield. He is another guy we saw play in high school at Coppell and with the Dallas Tigers in the summer. He will bring a great presence behind the plate at an important position."

"Joe comes to us from the Phoenix area. He really showed us a lot at our camp and we knew right away that we needed to get him on campus next fall. He shows a plus bat with great skills behind the plate. He also is going to be one of the more physical players we will have after some time in the weight room. Joe's best days are still ahead of him."

"Cade is a two-way player that has the ability to come in and make an immediate impact on our program. He has had a great career at Eaton High School as well as the Dirtbags in the summer. He is a quality athlete that has played a solid outfield with great speed and athleticism. He has done nothing but get better on the mound with the ability to throw hard and good secondary stuff. The future is very bright for Cade and we are looking for him to do great things with us in the future."
