POSTGAME NOTES

  • UTA falls to 13-9 on the season and 4-5 against Sun Belt competition. The Mavericks return to action Saturday, Jan. 27 against in a 4 p.m. (CST) Sun Belt matchup at Georgia Southern.
  • Georgia State improves to 15-7 on the season and 6-2 in the Sun Belt. The Warhawks remain at home Saturday to host Texas State.
  • The coaching staffs for both teams wore sneakers as part of the NABC's annual cancer awareness program - Coaches vs. Cancer.
  • Kaelon Wilson scored 21 points at Georgia State, giving him 1,091 in his career. He has moved past Anthony Durham (1,072 from 1993-98), Brandon Edwards (1,078 from 2010-14) and Brian Myers (1,084 from 1992-96) into (18th) on the program's all-time scoring list. Erick Neal (8th) and Kevin Hervey (2nd) are also among the program's leading career scorers.
  • Kevin Hervey scored 22 points and registered 13 rebounds at Georgia State. He now has 8 double-doubles on the season and extended his program record with 33 career double doubles. He also has 8 double-figure rebounding games this season and 35 in his career.
  • Kevin Hervey went 2-of-6 from behind the 3-point arc at Georgia State. He now has 175 3-point field goals in his career. He surpassed Drew Charles (174 from 2012-17) for 6th on the program's all-time career list for made 3-pointers.
  • Johnny Hamilton blocked a UTA career-high 7 shots at Georgia State, which is the third-highest single game total in program history (Record: Paul Renfro w/9 vs. Texas Wesleyan, 1980). He has 53 blocked shots this season, the 5th highest single season total in program history. He leads the Sun Belt Conference in blocks per game and is among the top 35 in the country.
