  • UTA improved to 14-10 on the season and 5-6 against Sun Belt competition. The Mavericks return to action Saturday, Feb. 3 against Coastal Carolina in College Park Center.
  • Appalachian State fell to 9-15 on the season and 4-7 in the Sun Belt. The Eagles travel to San Marcos Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. contest at Texas State.
  • UTA's game against Appalachian State was played on the 6th anniversary of the opening of College Park Center. The facility opened on Feb. 1, 2012 with a UTA vs. UTSA doubleheader.
  • Senior center Link Kabadyundi earned his first career home start Thursday night against Appalachian State. He earned his first career start last Saturday night at Georgia Southern.
  • Junior guard Erick Neal scored a career-high 38 points against Appalachian State, giving him 1,340 points in his career. He surpassed Jeffrey Stewart (1,302, 1978-82) and Derrick Obasohan (1,308, 2000-04) to move into 6th on the program's career scoring list. His previous single game high was 27 points at Appalachian State earlier this season and at ULM as a sophomore.
  • Neal's 37 points equals the ninth-highest single game total in program history.
  • Senior center Johnny Hamilton registered 1 blocked shots against Appalachian State, giving him 55 this season. His total equals the 4th-highest single season total in program history.
  • Senior guard Erick Neal connected on 5 3-point field goals against Appalachian State, giving him 224 in his career. He moved into 3rd on the program's career list for made 3-pointers, surpassing Brandon Long (223, 2005-10).
  • Senior forward Nathan Hawkins scored a career high 19 points against Appalachian State. His previous career high was 17 points against Bradley on Feb. 8, 2015. His previous season high was 16 at UTRGV on Dec. 16, 2017.
  • Senior guard Erick Neal attempted 8 3-point field goals against Appalachian State, giving him 661 attempts in his career. He surpassed Roge'r Guignard (656, 2006-09) for the third-highest career 3-point attempts in program history.
  • UTA trailed Appalachian State 39-35 at halftime, marking the first time since Jan. 11 at Little Rock the Mavericks trailed at the break. UTA led at halftime in each of its previous five games, leading into the Appalachian State contest.
  • Senior forward Kevin Hervey scored 18 points to go with 12 rebounds against Appalachian State for his 9th double-double of the year and extends his program-high to 34. He has grabbed 10 or more rebounds 9 times this season and 36 in his career.
  • UTA shot a season-best 62.5 percent from behind the 3-point arc. The Mavericks made 10 of 16 attempts.
