  • UT Arlington (1-0, 0-0 Sun Belt Conference) opened its season with a 85-80 win over Loyola Marymount (0-1, 0-0 West Coast Conference) in the season opener for both teams in College Park Center.
  • UTA has won its last four season openers and its last nine straight in season openers when they occurred at home.
  • Kevin Hervey scored a game-high 28 points to lead four UTA scorers in double figures.
  • Erick Neal registered 14 points and 11 assists to register a double-double (pts/assists) in the season opener. He had three double-doubles last season. He fouled out four the fourth time in his career and the first time since his sophomore season with :33.7 left.
  • Kevin Hervey scored the team's first basket of the season, a short range jumper from the right wing at the 17:56 mark of the first half.
  • Kevin Hervey scored 28 points against LMU to give him 1,135 in his career. He surpassed Mack Callier (1,111, 1999-03) for 14th on the program's career scoring list. Next up is Marquez Haynes, who scored 1,174 points from 2008-10.
  • UTA crowned its 2017-18 Homecoming King and Queen at halftime of the game. The Homecoming King is Kevin Moore, while the Queen is Zairah Musa.
  • Erick Neal handed out 11 assists against Loyola Marymount, marking his 10th career double-figure assist performance. He entered the season tied for the program record with Cody Glover (9 from 1990-92).
  • Erick Neal went 4-8 from behind the 3-point arc against Loyola Marymount to move into 6th on the program list for career 3-pointers with (173). He surpassed Anthony Durham, who registered 170 from 1993-98. Next up is Drew Charles, who registered 174 from 2012-17.
