  • Johnny Hamilton set UTA career-highs with 30 points and 15 rebounds against Western Carolina. His previous scoring high was 13 points in the opener against Loyola Marymount. His previous rebounding high was 6 at No. 25 Alabama.
  • Hamilton also set his UTA career high with 5 blocked shots against Western Carolina. He blocked 3 shots at BYU.
  • Kevin Hervey registered 7 rebounds against Western Carolina, moving into 9th on the program's list for career rebounds with 669 in his 86th appearance. He surpassed Jorge Bilbao, who gathered in 664 total rebounds in 127 games from 2013-17.

  • Led by Johnny Hamilton's 5 blocks, the Mavericks blocked 9 shots against Western Carolina, the highest single game total of the season and the most since 10 against Howard Payne on Dec. 20, 2014. The total is or equals the most against a Division I team program.
  • UTA head coach Scott Cross improved to 2-0 all-time against Western Carolina as a coach and player. His Maverick team defeated WCU 92-83 at the 1995 New Mexico Lobo Classic in Albuquerque, N.M. in his second-ever Division I game as a player.
  • Erick Neal registered 10 assists against Western Carolina, extending his streak of double figure assist performances to four straight to open the season. He entered the game as the nation's leader in assist average at 11.0.
  • Junior transfer Davion Turner registered a UTA career performance with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in just 15 minutes.
