ARLINGTON, Texas -- With excitement continuing to abound around the flourishing UTA athletics program, the Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital at Arlington will sponsor "The Maverick Hour", an hour-long radio program hosted over five Wednesdays at The Grease Monkey.
The event, sponsored by the Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital at Arlington, will feature fan interaction at The Grease Monkey with UTA's coaches. The Voice of the Mavericks, Josh Sours, will host the radio program, which will air live on KEXB 620-AM and through the TuneIn app.
"We are extremely excited about this additional opportunity of the coaches show," Greg Gardner, managing partner of The Grease Monkey said. "We put the Grease Monkey in its current location hoping we could build a partnership with UTA and UTA athletics. It has gone great and we hope the students and fans will come support the unique opportunity to listen to the Maverick coaches."
The Maverick Hour will debut with Lady Mavs Coach Krista Gerlich and UTA men's basketball coach Scott Cross on Wednesday at Grease Monkey. The basketball coaching duo will also welcome questions and fan support on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
With baseball and softball seasons pushing near, the Wednesday, Feb. 7 edition of The Maverick Hour will feature UTA baseball coach Darin Thomas and softball coach Peejay Brun, with the following two shows (Feb. 21 and Feb. 28) returning to the basketball-based format as postseason excitement approaches.
“We are really excited about the upcoming radio shows at Grease Monkey,” UTA men’s basketball coach Scott Cross said. “Our fan base is such a vital part of our program and the opportunity to visit with them in such a fun setting is something to look forward too. We can’t wait to get the shows going and be able to share more about our programs with our supporters.”
The events will feature fan raffles for tickets and autographs, and great opportunities to interact with UTA's coaches and fans, all while hosted in a fun-filled atmosphere at The Grease Monkey.
"This is exciting," Gerlich said. "I am really excited that Grease Monkey jumped out and wanted to host such a great event. It is big for the progress of our program and it's exciting that our fans can come see and talk to us in person to stay up with Maverick basketball. It just continues to spread the word. Both programs are continuing to grow and that's something Arlington can be proud of."
