ARLINGTON, Texas - Premier basketball teams deserve first-rate facilities. In the past few years, both the men's and women's basketball teams at UT Arlington have earned spots in the NCAA Tournament. With a new special events center, our teams will no longer be relegated to playing in a theater--on a stage. With this new facility, the world will be their stage.
The special events center will enhance the quality of life for the University community by hosting a wide variety of events, including indoor sports, convocations, commencements, concerts, political debates, speakers and conferences. The venue also will provide a mid-sized, multipurpose venue for year-round public events in the heart of Arlington's targeted redevelopment zone.
The proposed site for the special events center is at the northeast corner of campus between South Center and South Pecan streets at West Second street. This ideal location near UT Arlington residence halls and the new Levitt Pavilion will help connect the University to downtown Arlington and encourage quality private development along the north and east edges of campus. A significant aspect of UT Arlington's Campus Master Plan is the development of a College Town community along the northern boundary.
