Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington men's basketball team's season will continue Tuesday as the Mavericks travel to Seattle to take on Washington in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.
The game will be televised by ESPNU and will tipoff at 9 p.m CT.
The Mavericks enter the tournament as a No. 8 seed after winning the Southland Conference's regular season title and gaining an automatic bid into the tournament. UT Arlington finished the regular season 24-8.
"We are excited about playing in a tournament with such a great history as the NIT," UT Arlington head coach Scott Cross said. "I know our guys are looking forward to getting up to Seattle and playing a quality team in Washington."
This will be UT Arlington's second trip to the NIT as they also played in the tournament in 1981, losing in the first round at South Alabama 74-71. The Mavericks also played in the NCAA Tournament in 2008 in its only other national postseason tournament.
Washington, one of four No. 1 seeds, enters the tournament 21-10 and won the Pac-12 regular season title with a 14-4 record.
The winner of the game will play the winner of the Northwestern-Akron game on a date and site to be determined. That contest will be on Tuesday, March 13 as well.
