ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington senior Lonnie McClanahan was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I District 24 second team. The NABC made the announcement Friday.
McClanahan improved as the season went on, finishing his senior campaign playing the best basketball of his career. He led the team in scoring at 11.6 points per game, and averaged 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. McClanahan started 20 games, totaled 32 steals and shot 45.2 percent.
The former Kilgore College product scored in double figures in 14 of 20 league contests, including a double-double (18 points and 12 assists) on Feb. 28 against UALR. In Sun Belt Conference games, McClanahan was 15th in scoring (12.4), ninth in field-goal percentage (47.4), sixth in assists (3.5) and 15th in free-throw percentage (74.6).
He previously picked up All-Sun Belt Conference second-team honors after the regular season.
The NABC All-District teams and UPS All-District coaches are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
