ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men's basketball will face 2012 national champion Kentucky on Nov. 19 as part of the Keightley Classic. The first-ever clash with UK highlights UT Arlington's 2013-14 nonconference schedule.
The Keightley Classic includes four games for the Mavericks, one at College Park Center and three on the road. UT Arlington opens with Cleveland State at College Park Center on Nov. 15. The road games are: Nov. 19 at Kentucky, Nov. 21 at Robert Morris and Nov. 23 at Eastern Michigan.
UT Arlington is making its first trip to historic Rupp Arena to face the Wildcats.
"Facing Kentucky is an attractive game for us to play," UT Arlington coach Scott Cross said. "Kentucky is one of the top basketball programs in the country. They're going to be one of the highest-ranked teams in the preseason, maybe as high as No. 1, and I wanted to expose our guys to that level of competition.
"Games such as Kentucky and the others in the Keightley Classic will help prepare us for the postseason. Playing in Rupp Arena, which is one of the toughest environments in college basketball, is a tremendous opportunity for our players."
The remainder of the nonconference and Sun Belt schedule will be released at a later date.
