MEN'S BASKETBALL UNVEILS 07-08 SCHEDULE

2007-08 UT Arlington Men's Basketball Schedule It is home, sweet, home for the UT Arlington men's basketball team. A game with NCAA Tournament participant North Texas highlights a 17-game home schedule at Texas Hall during the 2007-08 season, it was released Thursday. "I am excited about this year's home schedule," said UT Arlington Men's Basketball Coach Scott Cross. "We played a difficult schedule last season in order to toughen up our guys and provide an opportunity where we could have a number of non-conference games at Texas Hall this season. "We have the opportunity to put together a season this program has not seen in a long time and we are excited about the possibilities." The 17 home games are the most at home since the Mavs became a senior college in 1959. The Mavericks open the season with six of their first seven games at home. The Mavericks will host UC Riverside on Nov. 12 in the season-opener at 7 p.m. Texas Southern (Nov. 14), North Texas (Nov. 21), Schreiner (Nov. 26), Texas Wesleyan (Nov. 29) and Western Illinois (Dec. 1) will all play at Texas Hall the first three weeks of the season. The Mavs open their road schedule Nov. 18 in a afternoon contest at Arkansas-Little Rock. December will have the Mavericks on the road with games at Wichita State (Dec. 7), TCU (Dec. 17) and 2007 NIT participant Oklahoma State (Dec. 22). UTA will end the 2007 year hosting Hardin Simmons on Dec. 29. The Mavs open the new year Jan. 2, 2008, against Texas-Permian Basin. The final non-conference game is Feb. 5 against Texas-Pan American at Texas Hall. The Southland Conference schedule begins Jan. 5 at Northwestern State. The conference road games include Center Arkansas (Jan. 5), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Jan. 28), Sam Houston State (Jan. 30), Lamar (Feb. 14), Texas-San Antonio (Feb. 20),Stephen F. Austin (March 1) and Texas State (March 8) to end the regular season. The Mavs' SLC home games begin Jan. 17 against Nicholls State. The rest of the league home games are: Southeastern Louisiana (Jan. 19), Texas-San Antonio (Jan. 23), Stephen F. Austin (Feb. 2), Texas State (Feb. 9), McNeese State (Feb. 16), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Feb. 23) and Sam Houston State (Feb. 27).
