The UT Arlington women's and men's basketball will take center stage with their season-opening home games and the introduction of the new mascot will highlight a full evening of festivities at Texas Hall.

The women's basketball team will open the night as they face Pittsburg State at 5 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader.

The new mascot will perform a short skit during halftime of the women's game and will hand out free t-shirts and hats during the intermission.

Following the game, the mascot will be available for photos and free pizza, while supplies last, will be given to UT Arlington student clubs and organizations.

At 7:30 p.m., UT Arlington will host UC Riverside in the season opener for the men's basketball team. At halftime, University President James Spaniolo will introduce the mascot to the crowd, the results of the name the mascot contest will be revealed and Spaniolo present the mascot with an official UT Arlington jersey.

Again, the mascot and pom and cheer squads will be available for pictures and autographs following the men's game.

Season tickets remain on sale through the UT Arlington Athletics Ticket Office. Tickets to all men's and women's home basketball games are $125. For more information, call 817-272-7168.
