UT Arlington starts its annual December road trip Tuesday as they travel to Austin to take on Texas. The game marks the first of six games away from Arlington for the Mavs as they do not return home until Jan. 4.

The game will also be the Mavericks first in eight days after defeating UT Pan American 92-60 last Monday at Texas Hall in Arlington. It will also be the only game in a 19-day span as UTA does not play its next game after Tuesday until Dec. 17 at Tulsa.

The Mavericks come into the game as one of the top scoring and rebounding teams in the nation. UTA enters the week 23rd in scoring at just over 81 points per game. Meanwhile the Mavs are 10th in rebounding at 42 per game.

This matchup with the Longhorns marks the second game of the season against a Big 12 opponent for UTA as they lost to then ninth-ranked Baylor 75-65 on Nov. 23.

UT Arlington is led in scoring by LaMarcus Reed at 14.0 points per game while Kevin Butler averages 12.5 a game after scoring a career-high 21 vs. UTPA.

Texas is 5-2 after defeating UCLA Saturday and is led by guard J'Covan Brown who averages 20.6 points per game.

The Longhorns lead the series 6-0 but Tuesday's game will be the first between the schools since Jan. 2, 2007.

The game will be televised nationally on the Longhorn Network and can be heard in the Metroplex on the home of the Mavericks KVCE 1160 AM or on
