NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference is bringing a taste of New Orleans to its basketball games in anticipation of the 2014 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships on March 12-16. The Sun Belt Conference wants everyone to live and breathe the spirit of New Orleans before they are #NOLABound for the tournament in March!
The #NOLABound Tailgate Tour presented by Cook Me Somethin’ Mister! and Blue Rhino will be making stops at various Sun Belt Conference basketball contests beginning in early January up until the final weekend of conference play. The New Orleans-themed gameday tailgate will give fans a preview of the spirited festivities surrounding the 2014 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships that will greet them upon arriving in New Orleans.
Help participate in the unprecedented buzz leading up to this season’s tournament as we get #NOLABound trending on campus and nationwide leading up to the first tip of championship action in mid-March. To join the excitement leading up to the tournament and share with us your #NOLABound Tailgate Tour memories, use the Twitter and Instagram hashtag #NOLABound.
Cook Me Somethin’ Mister!, featured on Food Network’s “Tailgate Warriors with Guy Fieri”, and its homemade recipe of jambalaya will be the main attraction for fans to enjoy prior to the selected games as part of the #NOLABound Tailgate Tour. Fans can stop by the Sun Belt Conference tent to enjoy the exclusive cuisine and earn free giveaways from Cajun Injector, Louisiana Hot Sauce and Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning as part of our New Orleans-themed build up to the basketball games.
The Sun Belt Conference announced earlier this year the three-year agreement to host the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship at New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena. The men's championship tournament will begin on Thursday, March 13 and will conclude with the championship game being played at 12 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, March 16. The championship game will air on ESPN2 on "Selection Sunday." The women's championship tournament will begin on Wednesday, March 12 and will run through Saturday, March 15 with the championship game being played at 8 p.m. (CT) on ESPN3.
Tickets to the 2014 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will be sold by each member institution. All students with a valid Sun Belt Conference member institution student ID will be given free admission to the tournament.
