The UT Arlington men's basketball team moved up five spots to No. 14 in the Mid-Major Men's Basketball Poll the week of December 10.

UT Arlington (8-0) is one of 15 undefeated Division I teams remaining after the thrilling come-from-behind 60-59 win at Wichita State last Friday. The Mavs received 318 points to move from 19th place in last week's poll. The ranking is the highest of any poll in the program history and the current eight-game winning streak is one off the all-time record of nine consecutive wins set during the 2003-04 season when the Mavs shared the Southland Conference regular-season title with UTSA and Southeastern Louisiana.

Joining UTA is SLC foes Sam Houston State (8-0) at ninth in the poll and Stephen F. Austin (7-1), entering the poll at No. 24 for the first time this season after a 66-62 upset win at Oklahoma. It marks the first time three SLC schools have been ranked in the same poll.

"It is a great accomplishment to have the Southland Conference represented so well in the poll," said UTA Head Men's Basketball Coach Scott Cross. "The poll just shows how tough the Southland Conference and in particular the West Division, will be (this season)."

UT Arlington returns to action December 17 when the Mavs face TCU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth. The game will be televised on The Mtn. Network.
