ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington Head Men's Basketball Coach Scott Cross has taken a step back to take two forward during a 12-day break between their loss at Western Illinois and Saturday's matchup with Big 12 Conference foe Oklahoma.

"Itthink the time off was good for us to go back and look at the things we did well early in the season and those we need to improve upon," said Cross. "We have really gone back to the basics and worked hard on defense and rebounding. I think our guys re-committed themselves and have worked hard to get better."

UT Arlington (3-4) will face Oklahoma (5-3) Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Arena in Norman, Okla.

The Mavericks have lost three straight games, all on the road, after opening the season 3-1, including an 83-81 win over North Texas. A last-second loss at Texas-Pan American and two routs at the hands of Illinois State (86-61) and Western Illinois (74-57) have the Mavs 1-4 away from Texas Hall.

Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 4-0, all in Norman. Saturday's game is the first between the two programs since 1997 when the Sooners won 81-63. UT Arlington has won just three of 47 games against Big 12 Conference teams.
