NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The UT Arlington men's basketball program continues to increase its national exposure with the announcement that its Dec. 29 Sun Belt Conference contest at Coastal Carolina has been selected to be televised by ESPN2.
The 6 p.m. (CST) contest was selected as part of the league's ESPN basketball package that includes a "wildcard" date where any game on a predetermined date (Dec. 29) is available for selection for national telecast. The Mavericks' game at Coastal Carolina was selected from the six conference schedule-opening games around the league on that date.
UTA men's basketball will appear on a national television or ESPN network no fewer than 25 times among its minimum of 32 games. Additional appearances would occur should the team advance through the Sun Belt Championships and/or postseason play.
For the first time, UTA athletics and College Park Center are producing all 30 men and women's home basketball games live on the ESPN3 platform. Over the course of the season, the UTA men will appear on ESPN2, ESPN3, SEC Network, BYUtv and FS1.
In addition to the Mavericks' selected contest at Coastal Carolina, the league and ESPN previously released that two additional regular season games will be aired on ESPN2 -- Georgia State at Georgia Southern on Feb. 16 and UTA at Texas State on March 2.
Additionally, Sun Belt men's basketball will continue to have a prime viewing slot on Selection Sunday with the championship game of the men's basketball tournament set to air at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN2 on Sunday, March 11, 2018.
Following a short break for final exams, the UTA men's basketball team returns to action Saturday, Dec. 16 at UTRGV. Two nights later, the Mavericks have a chance for another signature road victory with a Dec. 18 contest at 25th ranked Creighton.
The Sun Belt league favorite Mavericks return to College Park Center on Dec. 21 to host Cal Poly before taking off for a 7-day holiday break leading into its league opener at CCU on Dec. 29.
