UT Arlington will try for their first win over a Big 12 teams since 1987 when the Mavs travel to Stillwater to face Oklahoma State on Saturday. Tip off is at 2 p.m. and will be televised on The Cowboy Sports Network thoughout Oklahoma and parts of Missouri and Kansas.

UT Arlington last win over a Big 12 team was against the Cowboys on Dec. 3, 1987, when the Mavs posted a 69-58 win at Texas Hall. Since then, UTA is 0-20 against Big 12 competition.

UT Arlington is ranked 12th in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll... The ranking is the first of any kind for the program... The 8-1 start is the best in school history... UTA has beaten six Division I non-conference opponents for the first time... UTA has won 15 of their last 18 regular season games dating back to last season... UTA leads the nation in field-goal percentage and sixth in field-goal percentage defense (36.7 percent)... senior center Jermaine Griffin leads the team in scoring at 15.1 points per game and is ranked third nationally in field-goal percentage and 53rd in rebounding (8.9 rpg.)... Griffin needs six rebounds to move into 10th place on the career list at UTA... UTA has shot better than 50 percent or better from the field in five of their first nine games... the squad can set a school record for FG percentage in they can maintain their .517 percentage through seven games... Griffin, Vereen and Moffitt are all ranked in the top 10 in field-goal shooting in the Southland Conference... Seven different Mavericks have scored in double figures this season... Junior guard Brandon Long suffered an undisclosed injury against TCU and will miss the next six to eight weeks.

Oklahoma State has won nine of 10 previous meetings, including a 74-65 win on Nov. 18, 2005. UTA's only win (69-58) came Dec. 3, 1987 at Texas Hall . UTA is 3-46 all-time against Big 12 foes.

The Cowboys (5-5) have been sparked by McDonald's High School All-American sensation James Anderson with 19.4 points per game. Anderson, Marcus Dove and Terrel Harris has started every game for the Cowboys so far this season. Dove, a 6-9 senior, leads the club with 5.2 rebounds per game. OSU is averaging 8.3 three-point field goals per game. Defensively, the Cowboys hold opponents to 70.0 points per game while forcing opponents into 21.8 turnovers per game.
