Two-time team "MVP"... Named team captain along with fellow senior Jeff Murray.
SUMMER 2005: Won prestigious Young Houstonian (68-64-74=206)... compiled four-round total 284 (75-67-72-70) at Palmetto Amateur... advanced to semifinals of Cotton States Amateur by defeating teammates Bryan Baker, Kevin Varrichio and Ryan Zamorano before losing to ___ 2 and 1... competed in U.S. Public Links Qualifier and U.S. Amateur Qualifier.
AS A JUNIOR (2004-05): Was most consistent golfer for the Mavericks averaging 72.69 and posting seven top 10 finishes during season... won the Fall Beach Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala. with a three round total of 210 (70-72-68)... round of 68 at Fall Beach Classic matched lowest of college career... posted lowest 18-hole average on team for second consecutive season... a three-time all-SLC golfer after earning honorable mention as freshman, third-team all-SLC as a sophomore and first-team all-conference last season... led team with 72.69 stroke average over 36 rounds and led team in top 10 finishes (7) and top 20 finishes (10)... won Fall Beach Classic with three-round total of 210... 210 score is tied for ninth best in school history.
SUMMER 2004: In spring of 2004, qualified for the South African Open.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2003-04): Had his best performance as a Maverick when he fired a 69-70-70=209 to finish in a tie for ninth at The Maxwell Cup... his 54-hole 209 ties for the fourth best round in UTA history... paced the team to a fourth place finish at the SLC Championships when he tied for fourth with a 74-72-69=215... placed in a tie for fourth at the Squire Creek Invitational after shooting a 74-74-72=220... owned the team's best 18-hole average at 73.80 and 54-hole average at 221.40... had four top 10 finishes on the season.
SUMMER 2003: Won the Zimbabwe Amateur... shot a 70-74-73-66 to capture the club championship by four strokes at the Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club.
AS A FRESHMAN (2002-03): Earned Honorable Mention All-Southland Conference honors as a freshman... played in 10 of the 11 tournaments during the fall and spring... owned a 74.90 stroke average in 29 rounds, the third lowest total on the team... tied for the team lead with 29 rounds played during the year... averaged 74.65 in 17 rounds in the spring, the second lowest total on the team... tied for 32nd, with teammate Chris Erickson, by shooting 70-74-73=217 at the Pacific Invitational... had his best outing as a collegiate by shooting a 72-68=140 to tie for third place at the Cleveland Golf Championships... tied teammate Jordan Krantz for seventh place at the Cowboy Classic... shot a second round 69 at the Border Olympics, helping him to a 22nd-place finish.
PRIOR TO UTA: Played golf, rugby, water polo and cricket at St. John's College in Johannesburg, South Africa... epresented South Africa on two occasions... played senior and junior Provincial golf.
PERSONAL: Born July 3, 1983... is the son of Lyn and Norman Mordt... uncle, Ray Mordt, played rugby for South African National Team... business major.
