MG: Mavs searching for consistency at Morris Williams

The 12-team field includes 11 teams ranked nationally in the top 50.

Stuart Powell enters his fifth season as an assistant coach for the UT Arlington golf team in 2010-11.

Powell assists in practice, player developments and day-to-day operations of the Mavericks golf team. He also served as assistant tournament director for the 2007 UTA Fall Classic.

Powell served 26 years in the United States Army with tours in Viet Nam, Germany and various installations in the United States. He served as a professor of military science at UT Arlington where he retired from the military. During his time in the military, Powell achieved the rank of colonel. He stayed active in golf as a competitor.

He was club champion at the Fort Eustis Golf Club. Powell played on the Eagl mini tour for two seasons. He received his golf teaching certification and began teaching following the closure of the Eagl tour. He has been active as a professional golf instructor for the past 15 years.

Powell and his wife, Marsha, have two daughters (Kara and Brittany) and a son, Brandon. Kara Puckett and her husband, Kevin, have two children and live in the Mesquite area. Brittney Powell has one son, and lives in Burbank, Calif., pursuing an acting career. Brandon Powell lives in Mansfield and s studying to become a veterinary technician.
