Michael was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Team in 2007-08...he finished third on the team with a 73.74 stroke average...turned in his highest finish with a second-place tie at the UT Arlington Fall Classic, firing a 68-70-74=212...shot 15 rounds of 71 or better during the Fall and Spring seasons...his 19th-place finish at the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Invitational was a team-best...he also finished as the highest Maverick at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic with a ninth-place score of 71-71-74=216.
SUMMER 2007
Claimed second place at the Lowvbeld Open (71-68=139) and seventh place at the Limpopo Open (74-72-70-76=292)... competed at the Scratch Players Am (77-68-70=215).
AS A FRESHMAN (2006-07)
Named honorable mention All-Southland Conference... improved play dramatically during the season... played in seven tournaments, including all five spring events... led the team with a 73.33 stroke average during the spring with two top-20 finishes... averaged 77.30 in two events in the fall season... competed in his very first collegiate tournament the first tournament of the year with a 56th-place finish at the Scenic City Invitational... ended year with tie for sixth-place at the Diet Pepsi/Shocker Classic (72-72-78=222) and tie for 11th at the SLC Championship (74-74-70=218).
PRIOR TO UTA
Attended Affies High School... ranked seventh on the South African Golf Amateur Association with a 71.69 stroke average... won the Kwa-Zulu Natal Open (70-71-69-69=279) and the Lowveld Open (72-68=140)... finished in the top-10 nine times in 13 tournaments during the 05-06 amateur season... is the number one ranked player in his home state of Gauteng North... was the runner-up in the 2003 South African Junior Championship... played for the Gauteng North U16, U18, U23 Team and was captain of each.
