UTA GOLF IN 12TH PLACE HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND AT RICE INTERCOLLEGIATE

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington golf team finds itself in 12th place after the first two round of the Rice Intercollegiate held at Blackhorse North Golf Club in Cypress, Texas. Denver leads the tournament after shooting an opening round 290 and following it up with a second round 294. The Mavericks shot an opening round 310 and improved by 11-shots to shoot a 299 in the second round for a total of 609. James Love of Denver leads after the first two rounds after shooting after shooting 70-69=139. Love leads by four strokes over Rudy Celedon of Texas-Pan American, Brad Gibson of North Texas and Barrett Jarosch of Denver. Senior Landon Allen leads the way for UTA as he is tied for 17th place after firing an opening round three-over-par and following it up with a two-over-par 74. Freshman Chris Myers was one of three Mavericks to fire a 75 in the second round, along with Jordan Krantz and Chris Erickson. The Mavericks will play the final round on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m.
