Newport Coast, Calif. -
The UT Arlington golf team did not enjoy its first day of the spring season as much as it probably wanted to.

Carson Kallis led the Mavericks Sunday as he shot a one-under 71 and is in a tie for 27th. He was the only player to break par on the day.
Paul McConnell is in a tie for 37th after posting an even par 72 but then there was a gap for the next four players.
San Diego leads the tournament after they shot a two-under team total of 348. USD's Kenneth McCready leads the individual tournament with a seven-under score of 65.
The second round of the tournament takes place Monday.
