Golfers fire low round of the day at Battle of the Beach

Newport Beach, Calif. - The UTA golf team tied for the best team round of the day with four-under 351 to move up four spots into fifth place after the second round of the Battle of the Beach in Newport Calif.
Wes Worster has been the model of consistency for UTA in athe first two rounds on the North Course at Pelican Hill Golf Club as he has shot a one-under 70 in each of the first two rounds to be in a tie for sixth at 140. He is six shots out of the lead held by Washington's Chris Williams who stands at eight-under 134.
Zack Fischer and Bobby Massa led the Mavericks Monday as they each carded two-under par scores of 69. Fischer is in a tie for 10th at one-under 141 while Massa's Monday score vaulted him into a tie for 44th at four-over 146.
Donald Dowie followed up his first round 70 with a one-over 72 and he stands in a tie for 20th at even par 142.
Hunter Brown improved on his first round score of 75 with an even par 71. He is in a tie for 44th at four-over par. Bryce Easton rebounded from his first round 79 with a 75 and is in a tie for 77th at 12-over.
The Mavericks are 12 shots behind first place Oregon State who held on their to lead by shooting an even par 355 Tuesday. Washington, who tied the Mavericks for the best round of the day, is in second place.
