PALM DESERT, California - UT Arlington senior Brad Mason is tied for third and the Mavericks are tied for fourth after Friday's first round of the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate.
Mason led the UT Arlington charge shooting a 4-under-par 68 at The Classic Club, with freshman Zach Galliford firing a 2-under 70 to tie for 13th. Junior Joss Gosling and freshman Josh Radcliff are tied for 50th after matching 73s. Junior Jake Argento (T58, 74) rounds out the UTA team contingent.
"Brad and Zach led us with very solid rounds of 68 and 70," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "We played well today as a team. Our goal tomorrow will be to try to improve on today's effort. All the guys did some good things today."
Junior Marley Sweeney (T106, 78) is competing as an individual. The second round is Saturday with the final round Sunday. Colorado is leading the 23-team field at 16-under.
