MG: Mavs tie for 13th at Bayou City
Feb. 24, 2013
HUMBLE, Texas – UT Arlington men's golf team tied for 13th at 2013 Bayou City Collegiate Championships. The Mavericks shot a plus-19 307 in Sunday's third and final round at The Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Texas.
The Mavericks finished with 32-over-par 896 for the tournament. Texas won the 15-team event at 22 under, 21 strokes ahead of runner-up Houston. Complete standings and statistics are available at Golfstat.com.
We did some good things, but inconsistent ball striking and not being able to make enough birdies kept us from having a good tournament," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "They're better than the scores, but right now we are not getting the consistency that we need. We got to get more reps in, so that we can be more consistent.
"All I can say it is very frustrating, but we will bounce back. The guys are better than this."
The Mavericks return to the links in the San Diego Intercollegiate on March 11.
