LOS CABOS, Mexico – Brad Mason and Zach Galliford are tied for ninth, and UT Arlington is tied for fourth after Sunday's first round of the Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate.

Mason and Galliford both carded 1-over-par 72s at Los Cabos Querencia, leaving the UTA duo four shots off the lead. Houston's Roman Robledo is the outright leader after an opening 3-under 68.

Jake Argento (T21, 74), Joss Gosling (T54, 78) and Josh Radcliff (T66, 82) round out the UTA team contingent. Cash Wilkerson (78, 94) is playing as an individual.

"I thought we did a lot of positive things out there," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "Galliford birdied his last hole, Argento birdied his last hole, Mason birdied his next-to-last hole and everyone competed to the end for every shot."

Tournament host SMU and Houston are tied for the lead in the 14-team field after posting 288s. No. 1 Alabama is six shots back. Vanderbilt spent a portion of the day in the lead but dropped back to fourth at 12-over, tied with both Baylor and UT Arlington.

LSU, Kentucky, Arkansas and Coastal Carolina rounded out the top 10. Robledo holds a two-stroke lead on the field after carding the only round in the 60s. Vanderbilt's Charlie Ewing and Smotherman are tied for second.

The three-day event continues Monday's second round, which begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
