LAREDO, Texas - The UT Arlington men's golf team wrapped up Day 1 action at the 2014 Border Olympics in 16th place at the Laredo Country Club.
Brad Mason led the Mavericks in the two-round opening day, finished tied for 14th overall. Mason shot a 3-over par 75 in the first round before shooting a 1-under-par 71 for a combined score of 146.
Oklahoma led as a team after the opening day, placing four of its five golfers in the top-25 overall in the tournament. Baylor's Jerry Ruiz led in the individual leaderboard, closing his two-round day 7-under.
Play resumes at 8 a.m. on Saturday for the final round.
