UT Arlington struggled to open the Morris Williams Intercollegiate on Friday in Austin. The Mavericks came out of the day with a two-round total of 25-over-par at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.
UTA is 10th in the 12-team event going into Saturday s' third and final round. The Mavericks shot a 14-over-par 298 in the first round at the par-71 course and followed it up with an 11-over 295.
Paul McConnell is off to a strong start, sitting 14th with an even-par 142. Cameron Hollek (T42, 149), Pierre Carlsson (T49, 152), Hunter Brown (T53, 153) and Jamey Taylor (T53, 153) complete the UTA team contingent.
Playing as an individual, Cash Wilkerson is tied for 57th with a 154.
Texas leads the team standings at 6-under-par. New Mexico, Texas A&M, TCU and North Texas round out the top five.
