Golf crusies to 22-shot victory at Jim West Intercollegiate

Victoria, Texas - The UT Arlington golf team finished off the Jim West Intercollegiate in record form Tuesday as they cruised to a 22-shot victory for their first tournament victory of the season.
Senior Bryce Easton was the indiviudal medalist as he won his first collegiate tournament with a seven-under par score of 209.
The Mavericks dominated the tournament from start to finish as they finished with a 13-under par score of 851. That mark tied for the fifth-lowest score in a 54-hole tournament in school history. The 22 stroke victory tied for the fourth-largest in school history as the head coach Jay Rees led his team to his ninth win as the Mavericks head coach.
"I had a feeling we were going to be ready to play this week," Rees said. "Everyone contributed and I am proud of the wya we played all week. With the conference tournament coming up it is good to get some momentum built up."
Easton finished off his victory with a three-under 69 Tuesday which was his second sub-70 round of the tournament after shooting 69 in Monday's first round. The victory was the second of the season for a Maverick as Zack Fischer finished in first at the Southland Conference Preview in the fall.
Four of the five Mavericks finished in the top 10 as Bobby Massa was in a tie for second at two-under par 214 and Zack Fischer finished fourth at one-under 215. Wes Worster rounded out this group by finishing in a tie for ninth at three-over 219.
Hunter Brown and Trey Herring each played as individuals and they also finished in the top 10. The duo completed the tournament in a tie for seventh at two-over par 218. Donald Dowie played as part of UTA's team and finished in a tie for 25th at 227 (+11).
The Mavericks can now set their sites on the Southland Conference Tournament from April 26-28 at the Carter Plantation GC in Springfield, La.
