AUSTIN, TexasUT Arlington is 11th after Saturday's first two rounds of the Morris Williams Invitational at The University of Texas Golf Club. The 12-team event concludes with Sunday's third round.

The Mavericks are 20-over par as a team through two rounds, shooting a team total 588. UT Arlington was fifth after the first round with a plus-5 289, but dropped in the standings with a plus-15 299 in the afternoon round.

The Mavericks do have two players in the top 20 in the individual standings. Paul McConnell is tied for 13th with an even-par 142. Hunter Brown, who shot a 2-under 69 in the morning round, is tied for 18th at plus-1 143. Riley Fleming (T44, 148), Brad Mason (T69, 159) and Cameron Hollek (72, 161) complete UTA's five-man team.

"We shot a competitive 289 in the morning, led by a very good 69 by Hunter and a solid even-par round of 71 by Paul," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "But six double-bogeys took us out of the second round and led to a 299. We counted no double-bogeys in the morning. That is the key, not to count big numbers.

"We will keep fighting and trying to get better by being more consistent. All I can say is we haven't put three good rounds together this spring. I still believe we can."

TCU, Texas and New Mexico are tied for first, each shooting a 6-under 562.

Cash Wilkerson, playing as an individual, is tied for 49th. He shot a 1-under 70 in the first round and followed it up with a 77.
