MG: Mavs end season at NCAA Regionals
May 19, 2012 ATHENS, Ga. - The UT Arlington men's golf team had its season end Saturday with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Regionals, hosted by the University of Georgia. The Mavericks' final total was a 32-over-884. Paul McConnell paced the UTA contingent with a three-round total of 2-over-215 and tied for 15th in the individual standings. He shot a 1-over 72 on Saturday at the University of George Golf Course. Hunter Brown (T36) had a total of 220. Cameron Hollek (T60, 225), Jamey Taylor (T63, 228) and Pierre Carlsson (T66, 229) rounded out the Mavericks' five-man team. "Paul did a great job the whole week," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "He shot lower than any other UTA golfer I have ever brought to the NCAAs. "We played the front 9 at even par today, but we just wasted too many shots on the other side. I felt Cam and Hunter got valuable experience, and I really feel next year can be a record-setting year." Complete stats are available at golfstat.com.
