Wichita, Kan. - The UT Arlington golf team finished its first tournament of the season in fourth place at the Wichita State/Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic.

The Mavericks posted a team scored of 292 Tuesday to finish at 868 (+16). The host Shockers won the tournament with a score of 834 while Kansas State was second at 846.

Junior Paul McConnell was the top UTA performer as he finished in a tie for 8th at even par 213 after shooting 75 Tuesday. Pierre Carlsson finished in a tie for 10th after shooting a one-under 70, which was the best round of the day by any Maverick player.

Hunter Brown shot 72 Tuesday and finished in a tie for 18th at five-over 218. Jamey Taylor and Cash Wilkerson each shot four-over 75 to finish in a tie for 31st and a tie for 33rd.

Cameron Hollek also shot 75 and finished in a tie for 27th while Bryan Lichimo also played as an individual and shot 77 Tuesday to finish in a tie for 39th.

The Mavericks return to tournament action next Monday and Tuesday as they host the UTA/Waterchase Invitational. Admission to the event is free.
