UTA GOLF IN NINTH PLACE HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND AT CARDINAL INTERCOLLEGIATE

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington golf team is sitting in ninth place at the Cardinal Intercollegiate after the first two rounds at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ken. The Mavericks shot an opening round 300 on Monday morning and followed it up with a 301 in the afternoon for a two round total of 601. The host Louisville Cardinals own a three stroke lead heading into the final round after shooting 291-291=582 on Monday. Southern Mississippi is second place at 585, while Eastern Kentucky and South Alabama are tied after shooting 586 in the first two rounds. Jordan Krantz, a junior from Vermillion Bay, Ontario, Canada, continues to be the top player for the Mavericks this fall as he shot an even par 72 in the first round and followed it up with a two-over-par 74 in the second round. Krantz is currently tied for ninth place behind the leader, Gareth Maybin of South Alabama, who shot a 71-68=139 to lead by three strokes with 18 to play. Senior Landon Allen (Corsicana) is tied for 18th place after shooting a 76 in the first round and firing a one-over-par 73 in round two. Sophomore Tyrone Mordt (Johannesburg, South Africa) is tied for 35th place after shooting 74-77=151, while Bryan Baker (Whitehouse) shot 83-77-160 and Pete Pennington (Granbury) shot 78-85=163. The Mavericks will play the final 18 holes of the Cardinal Intercollegiate on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 8:30 a.m. at The Cardinal Club.
