UTA GOLF TIES FOR NINTH AT CARDINAL INTERCOLLEGIATE

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington golf team completed its second tournament of the Fall and tied for ninth place at the second annual University of Louisville Cardinal Intercollegiate at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ken. The Mavericks shot a final round 307 to finish in a tie with East Carolina. Eastern Kentucky and South Alabama entered the final round in a tie for third place, but a 285 by EKU was just one stroke better than USA, giving the Colonels a one stroke victory. Louisville, which entered the final day with the lead, shot a 294 to finish five strokes back in third place. Jordan Krantz, a junior from Vermillion Bay, Ontario, Canada, led the way for the Mavericks for the second straight tournament as he fired a final round 75 to finish in a tie for 12th place. USA's Gareth Maybin led throughout the tournament and captured the individual championship by three strokes after a final round 70. Landon Allen and Tyrone Mordt each finished in a tie for 30th place after Allen shot a 77 in the final round and Mordt chipped in with a 75. Bryan Baker and Pete Pennington each shot 80 on the final day to finish in 67th and 70th places, respectively. The Mavericks will return back to action on Oct. 13-14, when they travel to McKinney for the SMU Invitational.
