CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – A tropical storm cut short the Cabo Collegiate, canceling the final two rounds Tuesday. Sunday's first round finishes are the official standings for the tournament.
UT Arlington freshmen Riley Fleming tied for fifth and the Mavericks tied for seventh in the 12-team event hosted by Santa Clara at the Querencia Golf Club. Senior Cameron Hollek and sophomore Cash Wilkerson tied for 12th. Wilkerson played as an individual and did not count in the team standings.
The second round began late Monday after a weather delay. The Mavericks completed 13 holes Monday, with the second round scheduled continue Tuesday morning.
"Unfortunately we could not finish and that's golf," UTA coach Jay Rees said. "We have to prove we can be more consistent and we will. But that is what's holding us back right now.
"I still believe our best golf is in front of us."
The Mavericks return to action Oct. 26 in the two-day Miner Classic hosted by UTEP.
