UTA GOLF TIED FOR THIRD HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND AT SQUIRE CREEK INVITATIONAL

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington golf team finally put two solid rounds together at the Squire Creek Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech as the Mavericks fired an opening round 298 and followed it up with a second round 300 to sit in a third place tie with Boise State heading into the final round on Tuesday. Arkansas-Little Rock (UALR) is the tournament leader with two round 593 and sits just one shot ahead of Louisiana-Monroe. The Mavericks and Broncos are just five strokes back. Junior Landon Allen has continued his solid play throughout the fall as he opened the tournament by shooting a three-under-par 69 and followed it up with a 74 to sit in third place at one-under-par heading into the final round. Sophomore Tyrone Mordt turned in consistent rounds as he shot a pair of 74's to tie for 12th heading into the final day. Patrick Sullivan of UALR leads by two strokes after firing a tournament best 66 in the second round. Chris Stroud is in second place, just one shot ahead of Allen. Sophomore Pete Pennington is tied for 28th (77-75=152), while Mitch Boles and Chris Myers, who are making their collegiate debuts, shot 78-77=155 and 78-81=159, respectively. The final round of the Squire Creek Invitational will get underway Tuesday morning.
