LAS CRUCES, N.M. – UT Arlington junior Joss Gosling tied for fourth at the 2013 Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate and the Mavericks tied for sixth in the team standings Tuesday.
UT Arlington's overall finish was its highest of the season and second top-10 showing. The Mavericks shot a 10-over-par 294 in the final round to finish at plus-31 for the tournament. UTA was tied for sixth after Monday's first two rounds.
"We finished sixth out of 17 teams," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "I thought we competed and showed better consistency. Joss did a great job of finishing in the top 5 and leading us."
Gosling had an even-round 71 at New Mexico State University Golf Course's 7,074-yard layout Tuesday. He was tied for 24th after the first round and fifth after the second.
UT Arlington junior Andrew Cornella tied for 36th, senior Brad Mason tied for 53rd, junior Cash Wilkerson tied for 56th, and freshman Josh Radcliff tied for 64th.
"Radcliff did a nice job playing in his first collegiate tournament," Rees said. "I went with Andrew today and he missed one shot. He shot 72, but it easily could have been 68."
The Mavericks complete the fall season at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate beginning Monday in Dallas.
